Oh simple thing

The simple, beautiful doily of the crocheted kind hunted out in charity shops, junk yard sales and car boot sales over the years. How I do love thee. This week will be one of stitches and patterned doilies to delight the likes of simple old me. I can't wait to get home to my stitches.

How about you sweet people? Anything simple filling your days this week?

Have a good one

  3. Those doilies are gorgeous. The work that must have gone into each one is amazing. x

  5. Gorgeous collection Penny - I often see beautiful old doilies, but I never end up buying them as I can hear myself saying "you should make that Emma!" ... however, I never do get around to making any ... really they're two different things, there is the enjoyment and pride of making something yourself, but you can never recreate the vintage nature of the original ... maybe I need to start buying - which brings me on to a little gripe, how can these beautiful objects, that have been carefully and lovingly crafted, be sold for so very little! It astounds me, and yet gives me even less of a reason to keep my hands in my pockets ...
Anyway, hope you are well my dear, must pop off to bed now before I mutter on for too long!
    Em xx

  6. I share your doily love but thankfully found a heap at my local thrift shop. Just as well since otherwise I would have had green eyes looking at yours!
Happy week and what's more, happy creating xx

  7. Aren't they beautiful! My grandmother and great aunt used to make them ... I wish I'd had more appreciation for what they were doing as a child. My mother gave all their hand-made textiles away when she cleared out their houses after their deaths, which really feels like a loss. Keep collecting Penny ... it's good these things are valued :)

  11. Lovely doilies, what a nice idea to stitch them, relaxed and slow pace, perfect for an evening I should think.

Simple thing, sitting for a few minutes with my face in the sun....mind this week a few minutes of sun is just about all we've had :-(
