Charity shop finds

Hello there

Today was my lucky charity shopping day

I found these knitting needles at 35p a pair all sitting waiting for me to take them home

I was rather thrilled to have found some of these adjustable circular needles too

a nifty old tape measure for 30p
I'm always losing misplacing my tape measures so another one is good to have, I wonder who owned this and what journey it's been on?

and last, but not least a perfect sized mug for Alice's Horlicks at night

Hip hip hooray for charity shops, I would feel lost without them.
How about you? Are you a lover of charity shops?
Found anything nice lately? I'd love to know.

Happy hunting
xox
See you soon

I am off try out my new circular needles to knit a quick and easy new born hat for the latest addition to our family, baby Fyfe was born on 1/2/14 and we get to have cuddles tomorrow x

EDIT: Oops I meant to say that baby Fyfe is my sister in law's new baby just in case you may have thought I was hiding a pregnancy :o)

  5. Congratulations on the birth of baby Fyfe, I hope that everyone is doing very well!! Your needles are lovely and a bargain at that price, someone must have been having a clear out. They have found a good home with you though and will be well used I am sure. I like to rootle around in charity shops, but never seem to find anything good! Perhaps I don't have the right sort of eye for it, but it isn't for want of trying! xx

  12. Hi Penny sorry I have been absent for a short while, work as usual dominates my life at present. Wow what finds you have there I am so envious. I love finding things in charity shops and markets, it gives such a glow to think you have rescued something which has some history to it and give it a new home. Have a fab Sunday Penny, sending you lots of hugs

  13. Charity shops that sell knitting needles have to be a good thing! You might want to check that old tape measure hasn't stretched though ... don't ask me how I know that's an issue ;)

  14. Love your finds today, what could be more fun than knitting needles? Do you think they were form someone who knit for years, or maybe someone who started and gave it up? Be sure to tighten the circulars with a tiny unfolded paperclip, put the paperclip in the little hoes on the stem of the needles and give it a good twist.
    Hugs,

  15. I love charity shops. Love them. Always feels like a treasure hunt, doesn't it? You did well. We have a big knitting place nearby and the price of those coloured wooden needles is crazy! Great finds - I like that mug too. You've reminded me to buy some Horlicks.
    Congratulations on the new arrival!

  20. Great finds! Those needles were a bargain; it's always helpful to have lots of spare needles and hooks I find, as I am always losing the one I'm currently working with down the back of the sofa. And that mug for Alice - just perfect. x

  22. Our local charity shop does not put knitting needles out as they are considered 'dangerous'

  23. Fantastic finds!!! I love the ones with the green polkadot ends, they're adorable :-) I've got those circular needles but in plastic. If you don't have the tool that came with them, use an unfolded paperclip to poke into the hole in the needle end to tighten them so they don't unscrew when you're knitting :-)

  24. What’s not to love with charity shops? Aside from getting yourself some good finds, it’s a great way to give back to the community and help out the environment at the same time. Those reasons should be enough for us to support our local charity shop, and other kinds of charity shop for that matter. Thanks for your patronage!
