All those ends

Hello there, happy first week of sweet September! I'm loving the gloriously beautiful sunny days and evenings we are still having despite that wee chill in the air in the early mornings. My September is a full one and a very busy post Summer holiday one at work, but all is good. All is good especially when "All those ends" have been sewn in and cut off in neat little piles.

Which ends am I talking about? My yarn ends of course!

Ta-dah! Here is my long awaited Rico Aran cotton large granny blanket, full of bright and happy Summer colours. Much to my shame it has been sitting in the attic with some of my other yarny projects waiting for me to sew in the ends and snip off the very end ends. Hooray, it's done and has already graced Alice's bed last night.

Here it is in all it's colourful glory!

Dilly, our pet bunny also had to inspect and thankfully approves this cotton granny when I was trying to take photos yesterday evening. She is an inquisitive little thing and loves anything cotton, especially clothes when I am trying to hang them on the line!

Next up were these ends...

The ends from my chevron zig zag baby blanket which I finished on Sunday night. It's soft and warm merino yarn and I just love all these colours for babies, soft, earthy and mellow, I hope Lynette does too.

Thanks for letting me indulge in my crochet love and for your sweet comments. I hope the rest of your week goes well and you find some crafty moments as the evenings start to draw in .

See you soon

  1. Do you ever feel like you need to save the ends.....put them in a little jar, just to look at them?! Lovely blankets my dear, I really must try a chevron or ripple ( but they scare the living daylights out of me!) :) x

  2. Both of your blankets are gorgeous. I don't save ends, I get rid of them as I work, but I do like the look of a colorful little pile of them.

  4. Both blankets are beautiful, but I do especially love the colours in the baby blanket.
Dilly is adorable ... I've always fancied a rabbit but don't think our cat would be very accepting!

  7. :) Good work on sewing all those ends in, it's a horrible job but worth it when it's done x

  8. Great job and I especially love that you used the ends, allowing nothing to go to waste. It's the best way to create, if you ask me, to use what's readily available to make beautiful things. :)

  9. They look great, Penny! Hey I have a pile of 'ends' I know they should go in the bin but I just can't part with them ...and obviously others feel the same! Lx

  10. Hi! Spotted you over at Haak-en-Stekie. I am also a South African (living in Johannesburg) - here where we do not really know what winter is!! Your blankets are gorgeous - I especially love the granny - there is just something so comforting about a granny blanket! Adorable bunny - what breed is Dilly? - seems quite docile, quite interested to know because my brother has a bunny but it is very aggressive!

  14. Indulge away, especially when your crochet is as lovely as this! The rainbow granny square is gloriously bright and rainbow-y, full of colour and joy. And the chevron blanket is more moodly and muted but no less beautiful.

I am saving all my ends from a wool blanket I'm currently working on - apparently you can make them into felt balls?! Not quite sure how yet, but I'm looking forward to trying. xx

  15. That bunny is too cute! And I LOVE the colours in the baby blanket. But I dread to think how many ends the Granny square had! Knitting is so much easier when it comes to ends ;)

  16. i really must be the only person that actually enjoys weaving in all the ends!! it marks the end of all your hard work and i find the repetition so therapeutic. i can just blank everything else out......so long as i do it when the kids are at school or in bed that is!! love your blanket too. gorgeous.
