Juxtaposition

What more can I say about today's weather, other than juxtaposition? I love this word, I love the almost uncomfortable meaning of this word. I think it works perfectly for today's crazy snow and the sad outcome of all the efforts of Spring over the past week or so.

I want to say goodbye to you Winter, you have shown us all your mighty glory and made sure we acknowledged your presence with layers and wellies and rain coats and gloves and hats and scarves. Oh, and goose bumps and red runny noses and dark early mornings and dry skin and wet freezing toes-ess!(these are a few of my least favourite things)

Please let this be your last display of the heart of you. Please pull down your veils of ice and take your gloom and grey to the upside down part of the world where they crave the relief of your cool embrace after the heat of Summer. I know you'll be back, but  I was wondering if you would just very kindly pack up and leave?

It would be good not to have to title another blog post juxtaposition :o)

Thank you kindly
Yours sincerely
Penelope

  2. Agree with everything! And I love this word too...strangely my grandson used it in the script he sent me to proof-read for him yesterday - except he hadn't quite got the meaning right.

D'you know, I thought you were going to burst into verse..with your goosebumps and red, runny noses, and your wet freezing toes-ess! Just about to do my next post and a, stuck for a header photo... I really don't want to do the ice-bound garden..again! Lx

  4. I like your post, funny but certain at the same time. Here in Catalonia we have had a few days of almost spring, wonderful, but this week the forecast says rain, cold and maybe snow :(

Yes I think that we had enough of the dear winter...

    Have a nice week!!

  6. What was cruel of the weather, in my opinon Penelope, was that it showed us the merest glimmer of Spring to get our hopes up. Suddenly the girls were skipping outside, while I was pruning, sweeping and tidying. Now we're huddled indoors again looking at mud, floodwater and beastly snow. Go away nasty stuff is what I say.

  7. I'm so with you on that one lovely! I Can Not Believe how utterly freezing it is, it feels colder than ever this week, is it because we have become used to the weather being a few degrees warmer that it feels sooooooo chilly ... yes, I'm officially over winter, and I love winter, but it really is time for spring now, and a little bit of sun, a little bit of warmth and a little bit of colour ...

  8. YES! May I sign my name below yours please?

    :)

What a wonderful post - and your photos are terrific as always. Hope you get some warm sun and blue skies soon. I was talking to my dad in Southern California tonight, and asked him how the weather was. "Oh, it's fine. It was 70 today." This is the only time of year I envy California their weather.

  9. I've left the floods in Norfolk for snow drifts in Bexhill! I thought I'd able to sit on the balcony at the pavilion and drink afternoon tea, instead I m huddled inside with a hot chocolate! Spring, spring, come back!
    Keep warm, Penny! Xxx

  11. It's soooooo cold! It is however lighter in the mornings and evenings so I'm holding on, very tightly mind you, to my hope that spring isn't far away! :) x
