52 weeks of happy 45/52

Hello again

Thank you all very much for your lovely comments on my previous post about my tiny wild strawberry. It is very sweet and I hope it will make a delightful Christmas present.

I found it hard to get back into work mode at the beginning of this week after having had half term off, but soon adjusted and found myself rather busy. I did manage to capture a few happy things and so here they are.

I completed my lacy crochet shawl with the gorgeous yarn I bought when we were in Barcelona in the Summer. I love the name of this yarn it's called "Greta and the Fibres" and has a picture of a singing sheep called Greta and her band the Fibres on the label. I just need to block it and then will show you how it turned out. I loved working with this yarn and the pattern was repetitive and easy to follow.

Some rather wet woodland walking has happened this week. My goodness has it rained! The thunder we heard this morning was immense, I loved it. It reminded me of South Africa and that's a good thing.

I also decided that I loved my giveaway tea towel from Gillian so much that I simply couldn't bare to use it to dry dishes and so, it naturally had to become a cushion. I love it, thanks so much once again Gillian.

A sign outside a shop made me smile. I write like that and thought that I might even make my Christmas cards like this. Simple and sweet this year.

Oh my goodness I almost forgot about the bread that Alice made on Saturday! It was delicious and so easy to make. I was amazed at her baking skill because I have never been able to bake bread successfully :o) We found this really easy recipe and had it with some homemade carrot and coriander soup.

Last, but never least I started to make my next Christmas present for my almost 2 year old niece. It's the lovely Flax from Tin Can Knits. I'm using Debbie Bliss Aran and it's a joy to knit with. Perfect for today's indoor crafting while the rain pours down.

Thank you for visiting. I'm sorry I haven't had much time to come back and say Hi, hopefully I can this weekend and here's wishing you a fabulous weekend wherever you are .

See you all soon with my baby blanket Ta-dah

  1. I love the cushion, definitely better than drying dishes with it. Homemade bread is so tasty, and smells so good when it's baking. Have fun with Greta and her fibres :) xx

  3. I love the colour of the wool you used for your shawl, beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the shawl. Great use of your winning tea towel to make it into a cushion, that will be the worlds longest lasting teacake. I'm not sure if I have said, but I keep thinking it and keep forgetting (I think!) to say, but I love the coat rack that you have your scarf hanging on in your header pic! There, remembered. Finally!! xx

  4. Oh my gosh....I simply love the picture of the leaves with your feet. I do that very same type of picture when I travel somewhere. LOL

The color of your new shawl is beautiful and I think the yarn name is hilarious! Can't wait to see the whole thing.

    Happy Saturday.

  5. The colour wool for your shawl is gorgeous, and look forward to seeing your finished shawl. What a brilliant way for your tea towel, definately better than using it for dishes. And, home made bread there is nothing better.

  7. Clever Alice, that bread looks gorgeous! Love the knits, look forward to seeing your shawl when its blocked, both yarns are such pretty colours. The PIC of your needles makes them look square, I've never seen them like that before....are they comfy?

  8. We have had some great thunder and those nice dark grey clouds with rainbows and sunlight that remind me too of South Africa. I miss South African 5 o'clock thunder storms.

That sign is indeed a lovely idea - please share your photos if you make some cards, would be lovely to see them.

  12. I love that cushion! You've totally improved the original purpose of that! Hmm, lounging vs drying up, I know which I prefer! And isn't it made from nice linen? Love your idea of making cards, please show us if you do. Xx
